Ceramah singkat ini ingin membuka diskusi tentang pencarian personal atas politik lokasi, kemungkinan perumusan metode-metode indisiplin, serta penengahan dilema-dilema dialektis dalam penarasian sejarah yang berbasis kategori identitas etnis minoritas di satu sisi dan bersemangat dekolonisasi di sisi lain.

Water – between/beyond – Borders: A Methodological Reflection
This talk aims to open a discussion about the personal search on the politics of location, the possibility to formulate indiscipline methods, and mediation of dialectical dilemmas in historical narratives based on the identity category of ethnic minorities on one hand, and the decolonisation spirit on the other.
Biography / Biografi

Brigitta Isabella (Yogyakarta, Indonesia) navigates her encounters with people, objects and discourses through different knowledge production platforms that operate at the intersection of art history, critical theory, and cultural activism. At the moment, she is affiliated with the Yogyakarta-based interdisciplinary research group KUNCI Study Forum & Collective; the women-led arts network PERETAS (Perempuan Lintas Batas, “Women Crossing Boundaries”); and a member of the translocal editorial collective for the journal ‘Southeast of Now: New Directions in Contemporary and Modern Art’. In 2014, she initiated ‘From Bandung To Berlin’ (http://frombandungtoberlin.com), a curatorial endeavor that revolves around the historical-speculative interplay between the 1955 Bandung Conference and the 1989 Fall of the Berlin Wall in order to decolonize the narrative of the Cold War.
Brigitta Isabella (Yogyakarta, Indonesia) melakoni pertemuannya dengan beragam orang, objek, dan wacana melalui berbagai platform produksi pengetahuan yang bergerak dalam persimpangan antara sejarah seni, teori kritis, dan aktivisme kebudayaan. Saat ini ia berafiliasi dengan kelompok riset interdisipliner yang berbasis di Yogyakarta KUNCI Study Forum & Collective; bekerja bersama jaringan pekerja seni perempuan PERETAS (Perempuan Lintas Batas); dan bertindak sebagai anggota kolektif editorial translokal untuk jurnal ‘Southeast of Now: New Directions in Contemporary and Modern Art’. Pada tahun 2014, ia menginisiasi ‘From Bandung to Berlin’ (http://frombandungtoberlin.com), sebuah upaya kuratorial yang berfokus pada hubungan historis-spekulatif antara Konferensi Bandung 1955 dan runtuhnya Tembok Berlin 1989 untuk mendekolonisasi narasi Perang Dingin.
